To say that last night was “memorable” simply won’t do — it was one of the most beautiful nights of my life. I’m flooded with happiness for Chloe, with love for her family, and with nostalgia for our growing up years. There’s excitement for our futures, too, but for the moment, I’m a slave to memory lane! You’ll get my full recap in a day or two.
On Friday, Lori and Michelle taught you some basics of raw snack-making. Today, I thought it was appropriate to feature one of my very favorite raw snacks: Angela’s Liberate bars. I was lucky enough to weigh in a little as Ange was conceptualizing these, and now that they’re complete, I am so excited about them! The bars are raw, vegan, organic, portable, moderate in sugar, full of nutrition, and absolutely delicious — all of my favorite things! Please welcome the maker of these wonderful snack bars to tell you a little more about them — and then go buy a box or two 😉
Hey there!
My name is Angela Liddon and I am the writer of a healthy living website called Oh She Glows. When Gena asked me to write a guest post on my new gluten-free and raw Glo Bar I was really excited. Over the past year, I have become good friends with Gena and she has been a huge inspiration to me when I transitioned to a vegan diet in 2009.
Last year also had other big life changes in store for me. I opened up my own vegan, organic, and all-natural bakery, Glo Bakery. I actually went to grad school to become a professor of psychology and I realized that academia was the wrong career path for me. I was extremely unhappy in my research position and eventually I found the courage to quit and to try to find a career I was passionate about.[ If you are interested, I wrote a 10 part series on my blog called ‘A Year Can Change A Lot’ about how I found happiness with my career].
I decided to start my own vegan and organic bakery, in response to the popularity of my all-natural and vegan granola bars that I showcased on Oh She Glows. I was unhappy with the long ingredient list of many commercial energy bars and I wanted to create simple and delicious bars with only the best ingredients. Since 2009, I have created over 13 flavours of Glo Bars. After a whopping 23 trials, I recently came out with a Gluten-Free, Vegan, and 93% Raw Glo Bar called Liberate. I was determined to create a gluten-free granola bar that I could be proud of and would be something that many people could enjoy! Liberate is actually my favorite flavor now and I don’t even follow a gluten-free diet.
Liberate is very chewy, a little crunchy, a little soft, and has a flavor that is best described as biting into a delicious piece of banana bread. Because of the intricate drying process involved in making these delicious bars, each bar is a bit like a snowflake- unique in shape, size, form, and texture.
Liberate is packed with:
Liberate is just 241 calories per bar, and it is packed with protein (8 grams), fibre (7 grams), potassium (305 mg), Omega-3 (2648 mg) and Omega-6 healthy fats (5064 mg). For the full nutrition information click here.
Thank you Gena for allowing me to share my passion with all of you today!

Thank YOU Angela! I am so surprised (and flattered) that I had something to do with your shift to veganism!
I’ll back soon, with photos. Right now — post-wedding brunch.

LOVE Angela! Glad to see a cross-over. I get excited when my favorite bloggers overlap onto each other’s pages.
Sounds like you’re having a great time, Gena! Awesome!
Angela, your bars look divine! If it wasn’t for shipping cost and miles to Australia, I’d be buying up!
Two loves join <3 Ang is just awesome as is her blog! Choosing Raw is just as great! I have been watching and eagerly anticipating tasting the Liberate Bar as well as all of Angela's other bars :)How can one resist with such rave reviews?!
Gena can’t wait to hear about the wedding deets!
Angela, great work on transforming your life and creating one which is making you happy and saying goodbye to the one that wasn’t!
What a delicious looking bar! Heading over to your blog now, Angela…can’t wait to hear about how you shifted gears in your career. I’m in the midst of figuring out “the rest of my life” right now, so I’d love some inspiration!
Just recently found Angela’s blog and I love it! Even though it’s not all raw I still get tons of ideas and I love her photography. I am so happy there is a raw bar now. Thank you Angela!
How great to get some words from Angela on here! I love both your blogs so much and it is wonderful to hear about another person who has switched paths from what they had previously planned. I have done the same and she is such an inspiration, not only for her will and desire to start a business she is truly passionate about but also to eat a plant based diet.
I REALLY want to try this bar – it’s just so expensive for my college girl budget right now 😉 Living with Celiac disease is becoming so much easier and enjoyable when people create things like this. Thank you, Angela 🙂
I’m always on the hunt for a tasty and healthy snack bar. Your Liberate Bars look really good and I used to love banana bread so I’m sure I will love these!
Hi Angela,
I’ve been reading your blog, but did not (yet) get deep enough into it to know that you came to this point by leaving your career in academia…I may be the pre-change version of you! I’m heading over right now to read your story!
Thanks—-also think the glo bars look awesome!
