You may remember Sarah E. Brown from the Green Recovery post that she and her partner, Courtney Pool, write for Choosing Raw. It was one of the more popular posts in the series, and it explored some of the connections between recovery, veganism, and sexuality. Sarah and I have stayed in touch since then, and I’m always excited to read her musings on food, health, and self-care over at her blog, Queer Vegan Food. Sarah loves exploring the unexpected in ways both intellectual and culinary, and so it should come as no surprise that her new e-book, the Queer Vegan Food cookbook, features vegan recipes that are highly unusual, yet absolutely delicious.

Some of my favorite vegan culinary talents have contributed to this book, including Lisa Pitman (whose own e-book I reviewed last week), Allyson Kramer, Heathy Pace, and Ali Seiter. I love these women as friends and as blogging colleagues, and it’s delightful to see their recipes in one place.

My own peanut butter and tomato sauce and chocolate and zucchini smoothie are featured in the ebook, too! Tried, true, and queer ingredient combinations.

The best thing about this ebook, however, is not the food. It’s the fact that 100% of the proceeds–that’s right, all of them–go to benefit the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, where I first started to become attuned to a compassionate viewpoint. I cannot imagine a more worthy cause, or a more delicious way to serve it.
