Stress-Free Marinara Sauce

Yields: 3 3/4 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 yellow or white onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon organic cane sugar or coconut sugar substitute 2 teaspoons liquid sweetener, like agave or maple syrup
  • 1 28- ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a medium large saucepan. Add the onions, along with a pinch of salt. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the onions are clear and tender. Add the garlic and cook for another 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in the sugar.
  • Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, thyme, and salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm till ready to use.

Notes

Leftovers will keep in an airtight container for up to five days, and can be frozen for up to 2 months.
